Further artist research

Tricia Tusa

She has several techniques but my favourite is her pen and ink illustrations.

All her illustrations have lots of texture
and her shading and tone work is subtle
enough for it to look as if it is natural.

Narrative Image - research into artist

For my Narrative Image project I would like to do pencil illustration as i feel that is my strongest style. During my research I found an artist and illustrator called Maya Wild based in London.

I think this could be the final style I choose, because I like the blend of collage and pencil drawing, as it creates a unique look that I believe will transfer to the passages from Alice in Wonderland I have chosen.

Website layout thumbnails

Looking at other websites has shown me the endless possibilities of what I could achieve, however time to create them is an issue meaning I will keep mine simple. I have come to the decision that i will base my designs around my strongest feature which are my illustrations.

I re-did this page design, as i didn't
like the original

Above are rough thumbnails of the different pages I want to create.

On the home page I will have three illustrations each representing a different page. At the moment I am thinking of having:

  • A rose for the gallery
  • A world globe for contact information
  • An image of me or my logo design I created in the first year

UCAS application AFTERMATH

Now for the time being I can put UCAS to the back of my mind, however this then allows me to start thinking about portfolios. I have already purchased my A2 portfolio and started filling the 6 sleeves but only filled 5 sides which is 2 1/2 sleeves. I thought it would be hard to lay everything but actually deciding what work to include is even harder!!! Luckily I still have a couple of weeks to look through my projects picking out work.
I have decided to make a list of everything I want to conclude from each project as well as personal work, like my photography

UCAS application

Over the last few months I have been filing out my UCAS application, looking at different university courses and deciding where and what I want to do. In the end it was a straight forward decision as I had no desire to move out of the area the HND Graphic Design and Advertising at Canterbury was ideal. Now the stress that was slowing brewing up to this week has dispersed as everything is paid for and sent off. All I have to do is wait but I won't be relaxing!

Hex Colour Codes for Web Design

On my graphics course I have mainly been using RGB and CMYK, today i have learnt about hex codes, which are needed to define colours on Web pages. Every colour either RGB or CMYK has this unique code. A hex number is written from 0-9 and then A-F

Web colors are written as three sets of hex pairs. The first set represents the red hue, the second the green hue, and the third the blue. White is written as ff ff ff or #ffffff while black is 00 00 00 or #000000.

Garden photographs

I took the following two photographs in my back garden.

The first is a Day Lily and my favourite of the two for it's bright striking colours. - For this photograph the Shutter Speed was 1/60 sec and the Aperture was set at 5.6.

The photograph of the rose is my favourite compositionally, and I cheated by putting the water droplets on myself to help make the picture more interesting. - The shutter speed for this photograph was 1/30 sec and the aperture was the same as the day lilly at 5.6.
