FMP

I was asked for my FMP to produce the children's activity pack for Canterbury College's End of Year Art Show. The first thing I had to do was choose a theme and have Mark Howland ok it. I had several options for example Pirates, Carnival, Transport or the Beach, however both Babs and Mark preferred one of my other ideas which was a Fruit and Veg theme. With this theme I could make it very educational as well as fun and interesting.

Ideas I have to include in the pack:

  • Arcimboldo colouring exercise
  • Where was food originally from - world map
  • How do they grow - underground, on the ground, on a bush or in a tree
  • Wordsearch
  • Draw their own character - perhaps a competition

Ideas I have for activities:
  • Creating a Arcimboldo inspired face - group exercise with cut out fruit and veg
  • Cress heads - decorate yoghurt pot then add soil and cress seeds
  • Make a garden - shoe box, dirt, lollypop sticks for flower beds, beads for flowers???

Any suggestions would be grateful.

Interviews

After having my interview for HND be delayed for a couple of weeks, it is finally TODAY!! I am nervous which is understandable because I always get edgy when I have to go and talk to people I don't know, however my portfolio has been finished for a couple of weeks i keep tweaking it and I now just want to get the interview out the way, and hopefully if I get offered a place I will need to start thinking about finances.

Moving out next year

I am really excited, my friend Emily and I have been looking into student accommodation for the last couple of months and found a house with two rooms available as two are already occupied for a reasonable price. However we are still uncertain as to go for it or not, which is why we have set up a viewing for Saturday evening, allowing us to see the house as well as ask the lady any questions about rent and contracts.

My Web designs so far......

Home Page
I have drawn each image, and each one refers to a different
page. The rose will lead to the Gallery, the World will go to the
Contact page and the 'G' monogram will go to my About page.

 The About page
For this page I drew a bounding box for my text to go into, put a yellow outline
on it as well as a purple drop shadow. The Photographs are my own, and I found it extremely
hard to place them, in the end I am happy how they turned out with a drop shadow on all of them which helps them stand out. I have also created symbol buttons to connect each page together.

 Contact page
For my contact page I have the hanging world large as it's the main focus, three tabs at the bottom
for the various information I want to display.

Now all I have to do is create my Gallery page, and finish preparing all my work to put onto my website.

Further artist research

Tricia Tusa

She has several techniques but my favourite is her pen and ink illustrations.

All her illustrations have lots of texture
and her shading and tone work is subtle
enough for it to look as if it is natural.

Narrative Image - research into artist

For my Narrative Image project I would like to do pencil illustration as i feel that is my strongest style. During my research I found an artist and illustrator called Maya Wild based in London.

I think this could be the final style I choose, because I like the blend of collage and pencil drawing, as it creates a unique look that I believe will transfer to the passages from Alice in Wonderland I have chosen.

Website layout thumbnails

Looking at other websites has shown me the endless possibilities of what I could achieve, however time to create them is an issue meaning I will keep mine simple. I have come to the decision that i will base my designs around my strongest feature which are my illustrations.

I re-did this page design, as i didn't
like the original

Above are rough thumbnails of the different pages I want to create.

On the home page I will have three illustrations each representing a different page. At the moment I am thinking of having:

  • A rose for the gallery
  • A world globe for contact information
  • An image of me or my logo design I created in the first year
